PAT BATEMAN – For decades Alan Jackson has been one of my families favorite country music stars. Naturally, when we discovered this clip of him and bluegrass music legend, Alison Krauss, singing an emotional Christmas tune – I began day dreaming about Christmas morning.
In this video Jackson sings a song from his first Christmas album, Honky Tonk Christmas, which hit the scene in 1993. The album’s bread and butter was remastering Christmas classics, but Alan’s own song, “The Angels Cried” is by far the most touching.
I can not think of two artists better suited to sing the emotional lyrics of ‘The Angels Cried’ to life than Alan and Alison. I would go as far as to say this is the best duet I have ever heard.
“The Angels Cried” recalls the story of the angels following a star which led them to witness the birth of Christ. When the Angels saw baby Jesus they start crying once they become aware of what his all mighty destiny.
