PAT BATEMEN – The Daily Beast is reporting that U.S. Capitol Police are responding to claims that shots are being fired in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C.. The U.S. Capitol Visitor Center is very close to the White House.
It is being reported that EMS units are already there and treating multiple victims. People who work on the Capitol were instructed by authorities to ‘shelter in place’ because of a “potential security threat.”
Shortly before 3:00 p.m. ET an email went out to Capital Hill Staffers demanding that no one exit or enter any of the buildings at the Capitol. Those already outside were instructed to seek cover.
Due to police activity, Capitol Police have issued a shelter in place for the Capitol complex. Please stay in your designated area. #alert
