VIA| In an interview with Breitbart News Daily, one of GOP front-runner Donald Trump’s senior policy advisers said that a Trump White House would work closely with Border Patrol unions to secure the border.

Stephen Miller, the policy advisor, said Wednesday that Border Patrol agents would have a “direct line” to President Trump were he to be elected.

“I am here today to say that we are going to work closely, directly, and intimately with the National Border Patrol Council to develop a border policy for this nation,” Miller said. “The NBPC will never again have a back seat in our nation’s border policy.”

“We are going to work with the NBPC, and not just in a token way. But in depth, on a regular basis, they are going to have a direct line into our policy making on a routine basis.”

Miller said that such a “direct line” was the only way that liberal special interests who stood to gain from an insecure border could be cut out of the process.

“The day is over when people with political agendas are going to write policies that work for the special interests but not for the agents,” Miller said. “The agents are going to be the voice that we go to to hear what’s really happening on the border and what we are going to do about it.

“(W)e understand the importance of a law enforcement union,” Miller continued. “It’s the only voice for the agents. It’s the only voice to learn the truth. It’s the only way to know what’s really happening. It’s the only way agents can protect themselves from political appointees and special interests.”

Considering Obama’s adversarial relationship with the Border Patrol, this is massive news — one that illegal immigrants and liberals can’t be happy about.

Miller’s statements came after the leader of the NBPC’s largest local came as close as he could possibly go to endorsing Trump before the Arizona primary.

Art Del Cueto, president of Local 2544 of the NBPC in Tucson, Arizona, said that Trump was the “only candidate” who had publicly stood up for Border Patrol agents.

“Mr. Trump is the only candidate that has publicly expressed his support of our mission and our agents. He has been an outspoken candidate on the need for a Secure Border and for this we are grateful,” Del Cueto wrote. He explained that he couldn’t endorse Trump, as per the long-standing rules of his union.

However, he added that, “The American public has continually called for a secure border and Donald Trump has promised to make this desire a reality.”
