Defining Extremism & Radicalism

ELDER PATRIOT – We find ourselves living in an upside-down world where standards and principles that served as the foundational building blocks for this country’s greatness are being rejected by a cultural tidal wave that instead embraces perversion, decadence, the loss of our national sovereignty and, our growing indebtedness.  Politicians who speak for the majority and who tolerate but do not embrace perversion, cultural decadence, unfettered immigration and economy stifling debt, and their followers are labeled radical and extremist.

How we arrived at this point can be traced to the Secular-Left’s successful labeling of their opponents, and their strict adherence to Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.”  In particular:

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

By relentlessly hammering their conservative opposition using Rule 5 they have advanced an agenda that most of us viscerally reject but have accepted because those who speak for us have been marginalized through their use of Rule 12:

  • Perversion – Owing to the biological differences between the sexes, and the reproductive reasons for them, it is not wrong to conclude that homosexuality is an aberration.  However, in a society that purports to respect the rights of all people to live in peace and absent harassment, homosexuals deserve no less.  Similarly, they have no right to impose on your right to live in peace and without harassment and within your belief system.  But, they do seek to impose their beliefs on all of society.
  • Decadence – The observance of cultural differences serve to strengthen our country’s culture so long as we are free to accept and reject those differences as we decide best and are free to discuss the reasons without harassment.  In a society where freedom of speech is exalted, those with whom you disagree must protect your right to make your opinions known as they have in making theirs known.  But, they don’t permit that without ridicule.
  • Immigration – Unfettered immigration policies can only result in equalizing our collective wealth downwards until it settles as low as the rest of the world.  Applying denigrating labels to those who seek to protect the sovereignty of the United States and the wealth of its citizens suggests how devoid of argument those advocating open immigration policies are.  Ronald Reagan reduced the problem of unfettered illegal immigration down to its most basic tenet; “A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.”  No argument founded in logic can challenge this truth.
  • On the issue of our immense debt, could anyone reasonably argue that we haven’t burdened our children and their children with paying for our generation’s excesses, or that the only beneficiaries from the incurrence of such a suffocating burden are the bankers who hold the debt and the corporations who benefit from it?

“And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.” –  Jefferson in a letter to John Taylor in 1816 identified debt as the great

Any person who embraces the principles that our Founding Fathers relied on to write our Constitution, whether in public life or in private, by definition cannot be labeled radical.

Radicalism: the opinions and behavior of people who favor extreme changes especially in government; radical political ideas and behavior – Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Likewise, positions on limiting gay rights to their quiet enjoyment of their personal lives, adherence to traditional family values, closing our borders, and having our government work under budgetary restrictions, all favored by over 60% of the population cannot, by definition be accurately labeled as extremist:

Extremism: belief in and support for ideas that are very far from what most people consider correct or reasonable – Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Sanity must be restored if we are to have any chance of saving and passing on the culture and economic principles that served as the foundational building blocks for this country’s greatness.

Our Founding Fathers were students of history, philosophers and visionaries unlike the charlatans of today who seek to lord over us.  We who follow them are neither radical nor extreme.  Nor are the politicians who dare to put truth to words when defending our values.  We must reject Alinsky’s rules and focus on what we, in our hearts know our parents would tell us to do, or abrogate our sacred duty to defend freedom for our next generation.
