EAGLES CHEERLEADER Returns From Her 2nd TOUR IN AFGHANISTAN

ELDER PATRIOT  – Rachel Washburn is the complete package.  After spending time as a cheerleader for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles she decided she had a bigger contribution to make.

Rachel enlisted in the United States Army and rose her way through the intelligence division ending up with a special ops combat unit.  Though she carried an assault rifle her mission was more specialized.  She was charged with helping local women in ways that local culture prevented male soldiers from doing.  This included delivering Afghani babies under adverse conditions.

Though she was honored as a hometown hero by the Eagles during their game against the Chicago Bears this wasn’t a publicity stunt for Ms. Washburn.  She has completed two tours of Afghanistan and is considering re-enlisting when her commitment ends next year.

Ms. Washburn tells us that she has been awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat, the Army Commendation Medal, a Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge and others.
