ROMNEY WORDSWORTH – Paul Ryan, Republican Speaker of the House, denounced Trump’s plan, saying this is not who the Republican Party is, and not what it stands for.

Jeb Bush called Trump’s proposal as “unhinged”.

Ted Cruz rushed to announce that a ban on Muslim immigration is “not my policy”.

Chris Christie called Trump’s plan “ridiculous”.

Ben Carson’s campaign released the following statement:  “Everyone visiting our country should register and be monitored during their stay as is done in many countries.  We do not and would not advocate being selective on one’s religion.”

Lindsey Graham, currently polling at 0%, called Donald Trump a “race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot”.  Islam is not a “race”, and to meet the definition of xenophobic, Trump would have to be calling for a ban on all immigration from everywhere and everyone.  But why let the facts get in the way of a good string of hyperbolic invective?

The Mayor of St. Petersburg, Florida, has flippantly tweeted that he is banning Donald Trump from entering St. Petersburg “until we fully understand the dangerous threat posed by all Trumps.”

The DemocRat Presidential field, all 3 of them, unanimously condemned Trump for a “racist” and “unconstitutional” policy.  Hillary Clinton called the Trump Plan “reprehensible” and Bernie Sanders, without a shred of irony, called it “demagoguery”.  Well, takes one to know one, Bernie.

Of course, it was the Obama Administration that started the “that’s not who we are” meme.

Actually, Federal Statute authorizes the President to suspend immigration by any demographic group at any time in the interests of national security.  There is no “right” to immigrate to the United States by anyone.

What did Trump actually say?

“There is a great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population.  Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life.”

The Punditry Class:

Joe Scarborough proclaimed that the GOP Establishment will do everything it can to stop Trump from getting the nomination if Trump does not have enough delegates to take the nomination outright.

Laura Ingraham likened Trump’s statement as a fumble on the football field, and Trump’s doubling down on the plan to bar further Muslim immigration as a refusal to admit he had fumbled the ball.

The question is, IS this an error on the part of Trump?

Let’s analyze this.  Trump began his breakout rise to the top of the polls by challenging the Beltway conventional wisdom on what to do with tens of millions of illegal Mexicans and Central America flooding the country, engineered by Obama’s stand down at the Southern Border.  The GOP Establishment was in full surrender mode on Amnesty, telling Conservative voters we would just have to grab the ankles and take it.

Enter Donald Trump, who not only refused to accept this conventional wisdom, but ran in the opposite direction.  He has led the field by double digits ever since, on the promise to build a wall and deport all the illegals.  He is filling sports stadiums as he campaigns across the country.  The most recent rally was notable for the fact that the line to get into the rally was 5 BLOCKS LONG.

Is the Trump Plan to ban further Muslim immigration simply round 2?

Consider that Trump is adept at identifying hot button issues with the voters, and getting out in front on that issue with a position that resonates with the voters, even if it is anathema to the Beltway Oligarchs.

Does anyone honestly think that Trump’s plan to ban further Muslim immigration is going to hurt him with his supporters?

Is this really a fumble by Trump?  Is it a policy position he need not have announced?  Yes, he has been leading in the polls, but sports teams who try to sit on their leads and run out the clock have a tendency to lose the game.  Sitting pat just isn’t who Donald Trump is, either.

Trump is not only astute at analyzing and extrapolating events and trends, he is a gambler.  Let’s look at and see what Trump sees:

Since October 10th of this year, ISIS and its sympathizers around the world have killed at least 525 people in six attacks in six countries outside its so-called caliphate.

In Europe, where a tidal wave of illegal immigration by Muslims is occurring, horror stories are being reported DAILY.  German police were forced to pepper-spray a train fare dodging Islamist on Sunday after he reacted badly to having his ticket checked, attacking a female police officer by biting her on the ear, and trying to snatch a police handgun and screaming “Allah hu Akbar”.  Muslim rape gangs are out of control in several European countries, the worst being Sweden.  In Germany Muslim rioters have looted churches and have a penchant for defecating in local vegetable gardens.

Given the claims by ISIS to have already succeeded in infiltrating several thousands of fighters into Europe and the United States, who doesn’t expect an increased tempo in terror attacks?  If you were a gambler who had to place a bet, would you be betting on more terror attacks, or fewer?  I am thinking that Trump is betting on more terror attacks, not that he wants that to happen, but Donald Trump can only predict events, he has no power to control or stop them.

So what is going to happen to the electorate here when we start having Islamic Terror Cells executing mass shootings every couple of weeks?  What do you think the electorate will be screaming for the government to do?  Trump just told us.  Obama and the DemocRats are in a complete reality disconnect, answering the voters with more gun control.  This is insanity, and most rational people know it.  In the face of increasing terror attacks, the gun control argument has been permanently lost by the Left.  Gun sales in San Bernadino have skyrocketed, as well they should.  Neighbors reported many men going in and out of the Farook household, and they are still at large.  The Obama administration insists the husband and wife team of killers acted alone.  They are only going to end up with more egg on their faces.

Such is the state of affairs that several Sheriffs in Kentucky and Florida, and police chiefs in Milwaukee and Detroit, have all publically called on the holders of concealed carry permits to start carrying their weapons daily.  They recognize, rightly, that We The People are, and always have been, The Militia, the first responders, the first line of defense in the event of a terror attack.  The police are our back up, but they cannot respond quickly enough to stop terror attacks until after dead bodies have already piled up.

Is it wrong to single out Muslims for an immigration ban?  Before you answer, let’s note that the Obama Administration has a de facto ban on Christian Syrian refugees from entering the country.  We have only taken in one single Christian refugee.  The Obama administration is currently actively blocking the granting of asylum to Syrian Christians, under the fiction that the only people being persecuted are victims of the Assad Regime.  Politics always comes first with Obama.

The problem is with Islam.  Islam retains as a central tenet in the koran the use of violent jihad to conquer the world and kill non-Muslims.  Radical Islamists are the ones willing to execute jihad, but an even larger segment of Islam, numbering in the hundreds of millions, support jihad, and provide logistical support for jihadists and a community for them to hide in.  When you look at it this way, the safest thing to do for national security is to exclude further Muslim immigration.

Obama asserts that the Muslim community needs to be cultivated as an ally in the War on Terror, but the head of the FBI has admitted that American Muslims, to date, have provided almost no assistance to our national security apparatus.  In that light, it is clear that letting more Muslims into the country does not make us safer, and does not enhance our efforts to fight Islamic Terrorism.  It only hurts and handicaps our efforts while making it easier for Islamic terrorists to operate within our borders.

Officialdom doesn’t want to admit these stark facts, and Donald Trump is, just like he was with regards to illegal immigration.  If we continue to suffer further Islamic terror attacks on our soil, more and more of the public will come to see the true situation we face.  Donald Trump knows something about gambling, having owned several casinos.  He has placed his chips on the table with this announcement.

Everyone, place your bets…
