ELDER PATRIOT – Senator John McCain (R-AZ) appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” yesterday. “Open borders John” became the latest establishment Republican to take a shot at Donald Trump by claiming Trump’s rhetoric was turning Muslims “against the United States of America.”
McCain then proceeded to say 99.44% of Muslims practice their religion in an honorable manner showing once again that either he lies to suit his agenda or he has no idea what the facts are. Polling has shown that 51% of American Muslims support Sharia law ahead of the Constitution. This doesn’t make them terrorists but it does call into question where their sympathies lie.
Even assuming his number is correct, which it’s not, one half of one percent of 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide would be 8 million radicalized Islamist warriors hiding in the shadows and prepared to die fighting an asymmetrical war against us.
Let’s see, McCain was among those claiming only 19 radicalized Islamists were responsible for killing 3,000 of our fellow citizens on 9/11. The amount of death and carnage that McCain’s strategy of maintaining the status quo and increasing immigration from the Middle East holds the potential for is irresponsible and unacceptable.
McCain’s entrenched demands to end interrogation torture techniques, that he admitted worked to break him while he was a prisoner during the Vietnam War, coupled with the current rules of engagement that completely tie the hands of our troops, makes any victory over such a large army spread over every nook and cranny of the world unlikely without great cost to human life on all sides.
McCain was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1982 and then to the Senate in 1986. He has been present for the rise of Militant Islam against the U.S. almost since the beginning. It was not new then either having roots in modern times dating back to 1928 with the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
McCain is playing fast and loose with our children’s safety to push a social experiment he cannot guarantee and brings into question his critical thinking skills and/or where his allegiances lie.
If Trump’s rhetoric is angering moderate Muslims they should ask themselves why Americans might be defensive about welcoming them given their nations of origin and how little we can know about their intentions. If they don’t understand that then they aren’t going to be worth having here as our “neighbors.”
