VIA| Police have arrested a man they believe was behind a tweet vowing, “TONIGHT WE PURGE! KILL ALL THE WHITE PPL” in a suburban Maryland town.
Carlos Anthony Hollins, 20, was arrested and charged with threats of mass violence late Wednesday, after authorities were alerted to a tweet sent out earlier that afternoon, La Plata Maryland Police Sgt. William Brooks told TheBlaze.
The tweet, sent from the Twitter handle @_TRVPCOCAINE promoted the “kill[ing] of white ppl” in the town of La Plata, about 35 miles south of Washington, D.C., the Southern Maryland News reported.
“IM NOT GONNA STAND FOR THIS NO. MORE. TONIGHT WE PURGE! KILL ALL THE WHITE PPL IN THE TOWN OF LAPLATA #BlackLivesMatter,” the tweet read.
The account associated with the tweet has since been suspended but various news outlets and others on social media have posted screenshots, such as the one seen above.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office said that it is working with the La Plata Police Department to determine whether there was ever a valid threat.

An FBI spokesman did not immediately respond to TheBlaze when asked whether it is assisting local law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
Additional police officers have been added in an effort to better protect the public.
