VIA| An armed militia group and members of Cliven Bundy’s family took control of the Malheur Wildlife Refuge headquarters in protest of two ranchers sentenced to prison for allegedly starting wildfires. Activists complained that the protesters were not being treated harshly enough, because they were white, and that they should be treated just like black or Muslim protesters.
CNN law enforcement analyst Art Roderick said over the weekend that armed protesters who took over a federal building in Oregon were not being treated harshly like Black Lives Matter protesters and Muslims would be because they were “not looting anything.”
Art is correct. If protesters aren’t burning down business or creating chaotic violence, then police would not arrest them. The militia here was able to protest peacefully, nothing was stolen, no buildings burnt to a crisp, and no fighting. I suppose if you act civilized in your protest, then you’re treated equally peacefully.
