Mitch McConnell: Another Tone Deaf Elitist Who Ignores the Will of the People

ELDER PATRIOT – This morning Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union.”  As though we needed any more proof, McConnell loudly declared his membership in the growing group of political leaders who don’t give a sh*t about what’s important to the people when he it comes to their safety.

When asked about Donald Trump’s suggested temporary ban on Muslim immigration while we sort thing out, McConnell’s answer told the people he didn’t give a darn about their safety or their fears, “We’re not going to follow that suggestion that this particular candidate made. It would prevent the president of Afghanistan from coming to the United States. The king of Jordan couldn’t come to the United States. Obviously we’re not going to do that.”

McConnell offered no alternative plan for keeping us safe other than the usual platitudes about how wonderful the “religion of peace” is.

That explanation is so denigrating to intelligence of the Republican rank and file, 72 percent of who support Trump’s suggestion that it calls for his immediate removal from leadership.

Americans can understand the difference between granting visiting Heads of State and their entourage entry for political discussions and negotiations, and military-age immigrants who cannot be vetted and who come from regions of the Middle East where radical Islam is running rampant.

The saddest aspect of this is that the conservative Republicans of Kentucky who had worked hard to defeat McConnell in the primary in 2014 and had him on the ropes were undercut by a late Rand Paul endorsement of McConnell.  Paul was eyeing a presidential run and was “buying” future favors from McConnell.
