VIA| Doctors from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, have determined the cause of Obama’s chronic sore throat: acid reflux. The White House announced on Saturday that doctors performed a CT scan on the President, which came back normal. Obama was at the hospital for approximately half an hour.

The Associated Press reports that the CT scan followed a morning fiber optic exam performed on Obama at the White House by an ear, nose and throat specialist from Fort Belvoir Medical Center in Northern Virginia and supervised by Dr. Ronny L. Jackson, Obama’s physician and director of the White House Medical Unit.

Jackson said that the fiber optic exam revealed “soft tissue swelling” and “further evaluation with a routine CT scan was prudent.”

“The president’s symptoms are consistent with soft tissue inflammation related to acid reflux and will be treated accordingly,” remarked Jackson. No news as to exactly how the President’s condition will be treated. However, Weasel Zippers reports that acid reflux is caused/made worse by stress, worry and aggravation, in addition to eating bad things, such as more spice than you can take.

Obama will likely be instructed to avoid certain foods and may take over-the-counter medication to relieve symptoms like heartburn.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Obama was able to make the 30-minute trek in the rain to the hospital, because his schedule permitted. Normally, the President spends his Saturdays on the golf course, but this weekend, the weather did not permit him to do so. “The quickly scheduled test is a matter of convenience for the president, not a matter of urgency,” Earnest said.

For the record, Obama had a physical in May, and was in “excellent health.” Whew! I was worried.
