VIA| Illinois-native Gina Headen was about to have a panic attack recently after a police officer pulled her over for speeding. Her father had died just days before, and honestly a police stop was definitely the last thing she needed at that point in her life.
Headen began to reminisce about her dad while the officer was checking her license, when suddenly Deputy Dan Hill reappeared at the window with something that was guaranteed to put a smile on this grieving woman’s face.
“The officer returned to my car and said it’s your lucky day,” Headen wrote in a Facebook post. “We were born on the same day and year, slow down and have a good day. I smiled and said thank you. He walked away and I broke down and started crying. Thinking he was back in his car. He surprised me and tapped on my window asking if I was okay.”
She then opened up to the officer about losing her dad, who couldn’t have been more sympathetic. He sent her on her way with well-wishes and condolences, but the real surprise came days later when she received this lovely card in the mail.
“I just thought people need to know good police officers are out there who care for their community,” Headen told KMOV. According to Hill, these kind actions are typical but rarely reported – instead all we hear about is how terrible police are from the liberal media.
