ELDER PATRIOT – I find it hard to believe that people who have amassed power and wealth are feckless and stupid which is how many of us have come to view the Republicans we’ve elected. The more likely explanation for their support of liberal causes is to amass more power (or at least maintain the power that they have) and more wealth.
The fact that they have established mechanisms such as the Main Street Republicans that analyzes just how many votes a progressive agenda item needs to pass and then systematically analyzes the negative fallout in each member’s district to cause the least harm to each member who votes in the affirmative is proof of their motives. Each member is afforded enough votes against the progressive agenda to allow them to print those expensive flyers claiming their conservative bona fides that they send to you at taxpayer expense.
They treat us as though we’re stupid when they return to campaign prior to an election claiming they’re rock-ribbed conservatives. Our indifference to their votes during their tenure results in ignorance that they exploit against us. Indifferent or stupid, the result is the same.
Score: Politicians make you look stupid.
Jeb Bush’s startling reversal of the ranking in importance of the Second and Tenth Amendments is likely to doom his presidential bid.
The Second Amendment reads in part; “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
The Tenth Amendment is just as clear: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
It’s clear the Framers first included our gun protections then reserved all other powers to the states.
There are eighty million gun owners in the United States and as a group they are far more informed and vote in much larger numbers than the general populace. With less than twenty-five million primary votes to be cast in all of the Republican primaries Bush’s statement qualifies as stupid.
Score: One dumb-ass politician.
Hillary Clinton once served on the investigatory committee that uncovered enough “dirt” on President Nixon that he resigned. Mostly it was over 18.5 minutes of a missing recording that occurred between Nixon and his advisors and that he was under no obligation to maintain in the first place. Nixon’s secretary Rosemary Woods took responsibility for the missing tape but Hillary’s committee wasn’t buying that.
The newspapers and television news shows led their daily reporting with every detail as though Nixon had violated our national secrets and sold us out to foreign enemies. That was a time when we expected our politicians to be moral in their actions.
Today, Hillary Clinton is at least guilty of perjury in the matter of her illegal use of a private email server to send and receive highly classified documents. She has sworn under oath that she turned over all of her emails which means she either took five months of vacation in which she exchanged zero emails officially or personally, or she lied to the court.
The use of a private email server in itself represents a direct violation of the Espionage Act that specifically outlines what is permissible for the handling of highly classified information.
the night of the attack on our Benghazi embassy when four young men in service to America were slaughtered and their bodies mutilated. Now we learn she was exchanging classified emails during those moments when she could’ve moved to save them.
Why? There’s strong evidence to suggest we were supplying 400 stinger missiles to the very enemy staging the attack. Apparently, Mrs. Clinton had decided the lives of the four Americans wasn’t as important as arming our enemies.
This clearly dwarfs any of Nixon’s actions yet the media is almost silent or worse, bending over backwards to explain away her crimes in small bites with insipid explanations.
Score: There’s a whole bunch of dumb ass Americans who still hold Mrs. Clinton up as the Democratic Party’s leading presidential candidate.
