ELDER PATRIOT – Reuters Polling’s five-day rolling average shows Donald Trump with a commanding lead over his competition for the Republican presidential nomination with 38% support among likely voters. In the past 12 days Trump’s support has risen by close to 4% from 34.2%.
The mainstream media would be falling all over themselves screaming, “surge,” if their anointed one Marco Rubio had such a gain. Rubio? He lost 18% of his support dropping from 10% on November 13th to 8.2% today.
Trump’s popularity is distressing to the Republican Party’s donor base that is used to buying what they want. What’s adding to their angst is that the rank and file is so disgusted with the establishment’s acquiescence and support for the Obama agenda that the more they disparage Trump the higher he vaults in the polls. He has become the Teflon Don.
Trump has benefitted greatly from his early outspoken stance on gaining control of our borders. The subsequent terrorist attacks in Paris and their threat to bring terror to America has elevated Trump as someone who understands the threats to our safety and sovereignty especially when compared to the head-in-the-ground establishment candidates.
The rise of ISIS and the lack of border control that threaten our safety and economy, and were sanctioned by the Republican Congress, have voters disgusted with the Republican establishment. This is reflected by the combined 22.9% support this polls shows for solidly establishment politicians – Rubio, Bush, Kasich, Gilmore, Christie and Pataki.
The non-establishment candidates, Trump, Carson, and Cruz continue commanding over 60% of the vote. If Huckabee, Fiorina, Paul and Santorum are added to the mix along with those who won’t vote because of their disgust, outsiders command 76.7% of the support of Republican voters.
Every headline about ISIS or Obama’s illegal immigration plans benefits Trump. He is the best positioned to benefit further as the field whittles itself in the coming months.
The party’s donor base is afraid of an open confrontation with Trump that would only further expose their candidates as their keys to the federal treasury. This leaves them with only one plan, negative attack ads, a heavy dose of attack ads.
It’s now clear to everyone that the rank and file is so disgusted with the establishment’s acquiescence and support for the Obama agenda that the more they disparage Trump the higher he vaults in the polls. He has become the Teflon Don.
The establishment of both parties have become accustomed to resurrecting their corrupt candidates during the primary season by dressing them in expensive suits, ignoring their past failures, and having them lie about their plans for the future during the debates and on the campaign trail. Trump has given the voters an untarnished alternative. Whether he’s conservative enough isn’t important. What’s important? He ain’t them.
