The POLICE DOG KILLED HUNTING for Paris TERRORISTS Has a PERFECTLY FITTING NAME!

VIA| Tuesday night’s raid on the suspected hideout of the mastermind behind the Paris attack was a success—but there was one police casualty whose loss is greatly affecting the force.

“Diesel” the dog was killed by a female suicide bomber when the woman detonated herself in the apartment, located in the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis.

The Municipal Police posted the following picture on Twitter in honor of their beloved Diesel:

The tweet included the following sentence (in French) about the importance of police dogs:

“Assault and explosives search dogs are indispensable in the missions of the operators of the raid.”

Diesel was a 7-year-old female Belgian Shepherd.

There has been an outpouring of support for Diesel on social media, with the hashtags #RIPDiesel and #JeSuisChien trending on Twitter:

Five other French officers received minor wounds in the shootout. One female suspect killed herself by detonating a suicide belt, and another suspect died in a shootout with the police.

Seven other suspects were captured.
