Thinking Critically: Last Night’s Democrat Debate Defied Credulity

ELDER PATRIOT – During the Democrat debate last night Hillary Clinton’s challengers absolved her of any wrongdoing for her illegal use of a private email server to receive and convey classified information.  This leads me to wonder why any opponent who’s serious about defeating her would give her a pass on this?  Do they all share her contempt for U.S. sovereignty or are they just puppets being paraded before the American public to create the illusion of a primary process?

Mrs. Clinton has never been noted as even a good debater yet last night she was clearly the belle of the ball.  Considering the fact that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz convinced CNN to shorten the debate to accommodate Mrs. Clinton’s inability to stand for a longer period of time, would it be too far-fetched to believe Mrs. Clinton had also been provided with the questions she was going to be asked well in advance of last night.  Her answers were simply too crisp to think otherwise.

President Obama dismissed a 60 Minutes interviewer’s comparison of Mrs. Clinton’s email practices to other cases where his administration had prosecuted because, “We don’t get an impression that there was purposely efforts … to hide something or to squirrel away information.”

We’re not talking about some low level employee who made an honest mistake.  This woman has been involved in the highest levels of government is 1992, was in charge of State and is now seeking to be president.  Her excuses and Obama’s stated reasoning doesn’t cut it.

More likely there’s a bit of a standoff.  Obama hates the Clintons and would like nothing better than to submarine Hillary’s candidacy.  That is the most likely reason the FBI investigation was initiated in the first place.  Hillary must have a healthy dose of something(s) incriminatory on the president to be keeping him at bay.

One by one each candidate provided a laundry list of new government spending initiatives without addressing the burgeoning debt that now threatens the very solvency of the nation.

The French political observer Alexis de Tocqueville made this observation in the first half of the nineteenth century:

“A democratic government is the only one in which those who vote for a tax can escape the obligation to pay it.”

This clearly has not escaped the Socialist Democrats who were on stage last night. They were making promise after promise that they have no plans to ask their constituents to pay for.

That brings us to who will pay for the Socialist Democrats reckless and irresponsible spending that has been the foundation their party’s base has been built on?

Socialism has failed, or is in the process of failing everywhere that it’s been tried.  De Tocqueville commented on this, as well:

“When the past no longer illuminates the future, the spirit walks in darkness.”

De Tocqueville made another observation that the Socialist Democrats not just ignore but are at war with:

“Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.”

The history of the past century has shown definitively that the further we are removed from our Founding Principles the greater our problems have grown and the less solvent we’ve all become.
