VIA| President Ronald Reagan marked the occasion of Thanksgiving in 1986 by delivering a radio address on the American tradition of helping the less fortunate. Reagan’s style of praising the spirit of America unified much of the country. He is dearly missed.
It is clear from this address why Reagan was recently rated the best president of the last hundred years – and why hyper-partisan presidents with disastrous economic policies are considered failures. Instead ofpoliticizing the holiday or putting it down, Reagan chose to spread the holiday’s message of humility and gratitude. It makes for an excellent listen before Thanksgiving dinner.
