VIA| Providence Mount St. Vincent in Seattle is the home of more than 400 elderly people, all in need of the great care and quality of life provided by this innovative facility. While on the surface it appears like every other nursing home, this senior care facility has one special secret – there is a preschool inside!
Most senior citizens live in isolation, often lonely, depressed and without much hope. But thanks to these beautiful children and their excited faces, the seniors at this home couldn’t be happier!
Below is a trailer for “Present Perfect,” a film that is striving to, “explore the very real experience of aging in America – both growing up, and growing old.” The entire documentary is filmed inside the preschool inside Mount St. Vincent, capturing those moments between the very oldest and youngest in our society.
Each and every one of these interactions is laden with emotion, love and hope. The seniors clearly love spending time with these young boys and girls, teaching them all sorts of life lessons and just enjoying their company. Like a surrogate grandparent or grandchild, these two diverse groups are forming connections like never before.
Most nursing homes are rather bleak, quiet and not all that exciting – but not Mount St. Vincent. These little kids bring energy and enthusiasm to everything they do, and of course it rubs off on these happy seniors!
