ELDER PATRIOT – Do you ever ask yourself why allegedly well-intentioned politicians with even a modicum of historical perspective continue pushing policies that have failed to solve the problems they were implemented to correct. In fact, you’ve probably noticed that in most instances these policies have actually exacerbated the problems for the people they were intended to help.
Take the case of Keynesian economics that is the basis for liberals’ debt creation. It has a history of leaving economies in worse condition after only a few years have passed. The short-term benefits in trade for long-term distress was even acknowledged by John Maynard Keynes, himself when he said: “In the long run we’re all dead.”
So why then, if borrowing creates bubbles within the economy that consistently lead to economic crisis do liberal politicians continue to embrace Keynesian economics? The answer is simple. It’s because borrowing that creates bubbles within the economy is guaranteed to lead to an economic crisis. Huh? Read on.
Democrat strategist and powerbroker Rahm Emanuel summed up the Left’s reasoning with this simple statement: “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”
Emanuel was simply verbalizing what every liberal elite knows – people will not willingly surrender their freedoms but when they’re desperate many more people will turn to government for help than would otherwise. Crises are the foundational quicksand that liberals use to justify the growth of government and the stripping of freedoms from their subjects.
Ronald Reagan noted:
“No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!”
Why does this please liberals? Well, government employees overwhelmingly support Democrats particularly in the interest of their own job security. The same is true of the recipients of government handouts for obvious reasons. And, if there’s one thing that motivates liberals it is the consolidation of their power in order to move their Marxist agenda. You read that correctly, there is little remaining of the liberal agenda that hasn’t crossed the line into full-blown Marxism.
The results are twofold, the creation of a permanent voting block and another slush fund from which they can reward party donors. And, the greater the failure of a government program the more future funding they can justify requesting. That, of course, results in an even larger slush fund.
Doubling down on failure has served as a winning formula in the Democrats’ effort to build winning coalitions. That’s why they do it.
