VIA| Becoming a parent can be a scary thought, however this does not warrant what Eren Toben, 20, decided to do in an attempt to take care of the situation.
The to-be-father could not cope with the thought of his life changing so drastically at such a young age, so he and his friend decided there was only one way to solve this issue: death.
Toben and his friend lured Toben’s girlfriend, Maria Peiner, 19, into a wooded area, and killed her right then and there.
Maria Peiner had been 8 months pregnant with their child, but that did not dissuade Toben.
Toben, with the help of his friend, stabbed his girlfriend with a butter knife, then set her on fire, effectively killing her.
On his court date, Toben said that he wanted a “free and happy life”, which is exactly the opposite of what he faces for his punishment.
Toben lied to his girlfriend, saying they were going to buy baby clothes, but instead drove to a wooded area, where he met his friend and they carried out the crime.
He poured petrol over he body, after stabbing her, and set her on fire while she was still alive. ‘She was still conscious, it could have been 10, 20, 30 seconds – she was still moving,’ the judge said.
Her body was found the next day by a hiker, and Toben and his friend were immediately arrested. Toben and his friend tried to blame each other for the murder, but were both sent to prison. Best wishes to the family of the poor woman.
