VIA| Actor and noted conservative James Woods made a big announcement Monday about his political plans in 2016. After lots of consideration, he’s supporting Ted Cruz for president.
The actor dropped the news on Twitter, saying that he’d had a lengthy phone call with the Texas Republican:
.@SenTedCruz and I just spoke for 40 minutes by phone about our love of this country. This man is the real deal. I’m all in! #TedCruz #tcot

Woods noted Cruz’s positions on important topics, such as immigration…
Senator Cruz stressed something that gets lost in the bias of liberal media. He strenuously supports LEGAL immigration reform. #TedCruz

… and foreign policy:
Senator Cruz has a strong posture in foreign policy and an unvarnished view of the domestic economic disaster that Obama has been. #TedCruz

Woods noted other candidates he respects:
In response to devotees of other candidates I will say I greatly admire Ms. Fiorina, Senator Rubio, Governor Bush, and others as well. #Cruz — James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) November 23, 2015
But that he’s now a card carrying member of the #CruzCrew: He currently sits at fourth in the RealClearPolitics average of presidential polling for Republicans in 2016, and this latest endorsement is sure to help.
.@SenTedCruz has finally won me over because of his steadfast devotion to conservative principles regardless of polls or opinions. #TedCruz — James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) November 23, 2015
