This Guy Came Up With a Way for Christians to ‘Prank’ Starbucks Into Saying ‘Merry Christmas’

VIA| Starbucks recently debuted their new red “holiday” cup.

According to a statement released by Jeffrey Fields, the vice president of design, the goal was to create peace and calm:

“Starbucks has become a place of sanctuary during the holidays. We’re embracing the simplicity and the quietness of it.”

The minimalist design, which no longer includes the words “Merry Christmas,” has been the source of controversy since the cups first began appearing in Starbucks locations.

Joshua Feuerstein came up with a plan to prank Starbucks, though, and released video instructions on how to trick Starbucks baristas into writing “Merry Christmas” on the cups. Just tell them that’s your name…

Starbucks REMOVED CHRISTMAS from their cups because they hate Jesus … SO I PRANKED THEM … and they HATE IT!!!! #shareUse #MERRYCHRISTMASSTARBUCKSFollow -> Joshua Feuerstein

He then encouraged anyone who participated to post “coffee selfies” along with the following hashtag: #MerryChristmasStarbucks. His video, thus far, has received mixed reviews.

Some thought it was absolutely brilliant:

And some thought it was a waste of time:

And one guy had another theory entirely:

The plain red cups are available through the holiday season along with theholiday menu, which includes:

  • Eggnog latte
  • Peppermint mocha
  • Chestnut praline latte
  • Gingerbread latte
  • White chocolate peppermint mocha
  • Toasted graham latte

Yes, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is still available as well.
