KIRSTERS BAISH| Perhaps the most esteemed lawyer in America, Alan Dershowitz has come forward to clear Donald Trump Jr.’s name from the vicious media. Media outlets such as The New York Times even went so far as to claim that Donald Trump Jr. committed treason simply by speaking with a lawyer who happened to be from Russia. Sorry to break it to you guys, but nothing illegal happened here.
The media isn’t going to be able to come back from this mess. After making false accusations, and essentially airing fake news stories about Trump Jr.’s involvement with an alleged conspiracy scandal with Russia, the media is completely and utterly screwed. Just by the tone of his voice, you could tell that Alan Dershowitz is really fed up with the way the media has been acting, and he is prepared to defend Trump Jr. with all the verbal ammo he has.
Dershowitz appeared on Fox News Network in a web set-up from his own home to make his point. The video can be viewed below:
Dershowitz was visibly angered by the media’s reactions to the meeting when he spoke with Niel Cavuto on FOX Business,
“There’s really no difference on the First Amendment between a campaigner using information obtained from somebody who obtained it illegally and the newspaper doing it. So, I think this is conduct that would be covered by the First Amendment.
It is also not prohibited by law. There has been so much overwrought claim. People are talking about treason. I can’t believe The New York Times had an op-ed yesterday in which treason was mentioned. But during the Cold War, treasonous conduct was often prosecuted under other statutes. Alger Hiss was sentenced to four years in prison for ‘forgetting’ in sworn testimony that he had met with Whitaker Chambers, an American working for the Russians.”
The issue for the liberal media attacking Donald Trump Jr. is simply this; we are a country that punishes people when they break the law. Trump Jr. literally broke zero laws, so how the hell can we put him in jail for “treason” if he didn’t commit treason? Dershowitz explained that although he didn’t agree with the meeting, he didn’t see anything illegal about the meeting having occurred.
Although Dershowitz may not have all the same views as many of our readers I’m sure we can all agree that he did the right thing in coming forward and defending Trump Jr.
